What Does This Article Cover?

This How-To article provides tips for troubleshooting the installation of the HighByte Intelligence Hub Runtime service.   When installing Intelligence Hub on Windows, there might be some issues that you will encounter.   Windows Operating Systems be configured differently by each company.  This is hard to give a solid procedure to setup the windows service.  These guidelines will help provide troubleshooting tips to get the service installed successfully.

Unblock Files Used by Service

When copying files onto a computer, Windows initially blocks the files from being used.   This is a security measure in Windows to protect against using harmful software.   You must unblock the files to provide access to the files.

If you already have installed the HighByte Intelligence Hub Runtime service, it should be removed.  This is done by navigating to the ../runtime/service folder.   From this folder, run the "uninstall-windows-service.bat".  This should stop (if running) and remove the HighByte Intelligence Hub Runtime service.

Next, from to the ../runtime/service folder, you will need to unblock all the files, one at a time.  This is done by selecting the file, right-clicking on each file and selecting "Properties".  Then, select the Unblock option and press Apply.  Finally press OK.

Once all the files are unblocked in the service folder, navigate up a folder to runtime.  From the runtime folder, unblock the start-windows.bat and stop-windows.bat files using the same procedure.

Finally, navigate back down to the service folder and run install-windows-service.bat.   This will install and run the HighByte Intelligence Hub Runtime service.   Verify that the service is running from Task Manager...Services.  If it is not running, right-click on the service and press Start.

Change Account for Running Service

Using an admin account to run the service will help install the service correctly.  To change the account running the service, you will need to open the Services MMC.  The Services MMC is found by entering "Services" from the Windows Start.   From here, find the HighByte Intelligence Hub Runtime service.   Right click and select Properties.  From the Log On tab, select "This Account" and enter the username and confirm the password.

After entering the user, press Apply.  If the service is started, you will need to restart the service before the new user will take effect.

If the service is not started, right-click and select Start service.    It the service starts; you have successfully changed the user.

Once the service has started with the admin user, try and run the service again with just the Local System account.   By running the service first as the admin user, it should setup the system correctly to accept Local System as the user of the service.
